When you think of Bentley, you naturally think of high-class appointments and high-quality materials. And that’s exactly what the British firm served up at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit when it unveiled its Series 51 line-up.

Bentley opened its first design and styling studio in 1951. To commemorate this historic event, Bentley is now offering a series, dubbed 51, on its existing Continental GT and GTC models.

In concrete terms, the Series 51 still uses only the finest materials but adds exclusive stitching to the interior leather, diamonds on select cabin details and colour combinations directly inspired from the 1950s. The body also benefits from this unique touch up, with sophisticated hues and exclusive wheels.

Obviously, the exclusive Series 51will only be available to order, and consumers themselves will act as consultants in decorating their car.

The Mulsanne
Already spotted at the Frankfurt Auto Show and displayed a few weeks ago at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Bentley Mulsanne has made its first true appearance in a motor show.

The Mulsanne is the Rolls Royce’s main rival. This grand car not only replaces the Arnage, it improves upon it, upsizes it, and redefines it.

Fifteen centimetres longer, it will be available in 114 different colours and will allow for some truly unique combinations to suit the buyer’s tastes.

Under the hood, Bentley remains true to tradition, opting once more for the big 6.75-litre V8. This engine, coupled with two turbochargers, packs 506 ponies and over 750 ft-lb of torque. A new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission sends power to the wheels without hesitation.

For music lovers, a Naim audio system will be optional, with 20 loudspeakers, 8 DSP modes and a 2,200-watt amplifier!

The Mulsanne is entering production this month and, of course, won’t come cheaply: interested buyers in the UK, where it will first be available, will have to dish out some $348 000 to get their hands on it.
