The new MINI convertible was unveiled just a few weeks ago in Detroit, and already the John Cooper Works high performance version will make an appearance at the Geneva show next month.

The cabrio version boasts the same features as the Cooper and Clubman JCW. The small but powerful 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine retains the direct injection technology and turbocharger and produces 208 hp.

Its performance is still noteworthy, as the 0-100 advertised by MINI is only 6.6 seconds with the manual transmission. The performance enhancements aren't limited to the engine: the suspension has been lowered and stiffened and the brakes are bigger, as are the wheels.

In order to improve the car's aerodynamic qualities, skirting is present all around it. The JCW program doesn't focus solely on mechanics, but is also the brand's personalization tool. Thanks to the catalogue, each car can be assembled to suit the buyer's tastes.

The MINI JCW convertibles are assembled at the Oxford plant in England alongside the Coopers and Clubmans. The brand's latest model will be available next April, and pricing details will be released in the weeks prior to its launch.
