The strength of the loony will finally allow Canadians to pay a little less for their cars! Though it won’t necessarily be the case with every manufacturer, Porsche has paved the way by announcing the price of its models will drop by an average of $5,200. The German automaker will also be reducing the price of optional equipment.

“Porsche Canada has historically been the first to act decisively and responsively to currency fluctuations in the North American market,” said Joe Lawrence, Porsche Canada’s CEO. “Our status as an independent subsidiary since 2008 has greatly strengthened our voice in Stuttgart, allowing us to deliver unprecedented levels of value to Canadian Porsche buyers.”

“The reduction in base prices results from the continued and consistent strength of the Canadian dollar,” said Lawrence. “With this latest move, the relationship between Canadian and U.S. prices has improved by an average of 8% across the lineup. No competitive brand has Canadian prices so closely aligned, across the board, to U.S. prices.”

In concrete terms, the Panamera will now fetch $86,600 and its S variant $103,200, a $11,900 decrease. The brand’s standard-bearer, the 911 Turbo S, will benefit from the strongest price reduction and will now sell for $183,400 instead of $200,000.

Porsche also took the opportunity to announce the reduction of pricing on its more popular options. The seven-speed PDK transmission, for instance, will drop from $4,600 to $3,910 on the Boxster and Cayman, while the Cayenne’s, tilting and sliding moonroof will be reduced from $1,630 to $1,370.

According to Porsche, buyers who choose these options will save an extra $2,500 compared with former prices.
