According to Car Magazine, BMW is on the verge of introducing an M variant of the X3 for 2012 that may feature a tri-turbo inline-six. Borrowed from the M3, the mill will be tweaked to boost displacement from 3.0 to 3.2 litres and deploy approximately 499 ponies.
BMW employees in Germany told Car Magazine that one electric turbocharger and two exhaust-driven units would dispatch all that grunt to the SUVs wheels.
The sales price should hover around £50,000, a little over $CDN 79,000 based on current exchange rates.
