The 2010 Honda CR-V was redesigned with more sophistication and refinement

By Communiqué de Presse Honda,
Thursday, September 24, 2009
Press release
Source : Honda

TORONTO - The redesigned 2010 Honda CR-V adds refinements and upgrades to both the exterior and interior, in addition to new features, improved fuel economy and more power. The CR-V compact crossover SUV goes on sale across Canada today with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $27,790, unchanged from 2009 pricing.

"CR-V combines the desired aspects of a compact car with the functionality of a sport-utility vehicle to make a stylish, yet capable year-round vehicle for Canadians," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc. "The 2010 CR-V represents even better value with significant upgrades and improvements."

Exterior styling enhancements include a freshened front fascia with a new grille and bumper design, a re-sculpted hood, and a new rear bumper shape. A 10-spoke alloy wheel design, standard on CR-V EX and EX-L, replaces the previous 7-spoke alloy wheel design.

Interior improvements focus on new features and functionality. Bluetooth(R) HandsFreeLink(R) is now included with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System(TM), auto on/off headlights have been added to the CR-V EX, and the front seats have wider centre armrests on all models.

Upgrades to the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine improve power output to 180 horsepower, an increase of 14 horsepower over the 2009 CR-V. Improved city/highway fuel economy ratings are 9.8/7.1 L/100 km (city/highway) on 2WD models, and 10.1/7.5 L/100 km (city/highway) on models equipped with Real Time(TM) 4WD.

Power and efficiency improvements result from the engine's compression ratio increasing to 10:5:1 from 9.7:1; fuel injectors with a finer spray pattern; larger intake valves; spark plugs with extended electrodes; friction-reducing piston rings; higher-precision timing sensor; and a higher flow-rate exhaust system.

A wide range of interior updates for 2010 include modifications to the radio functionality and control layout, the introduction of new seat fabric textures and an upgraded interior door handle design with a rubberized grip handle.

Revised trim panel sections for the steering wheel, gear selector, and upper glove box serve to brighten the overall interior colour theme. For added comfort, the driver's and front passenger's centre folding armrests have been widened.

CR-V is available in five model choices: LX and EX are offered in both front-wheel drive or Real Time 4WD, while EX-L is offered with 4WD only. Standard comfort and convenience features on the CR-V LX include air conditioning with air-filtration system, keyless entry, tilt and telescopic steering column, cruise control, power windows with auto-up/down driver's window, power door and tailgate locks, AM/FM/CD audio system with four speakers, fuel economy meter, and rear privacy glass (new). The CR-V LX will also come standard with 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels (new).

The CR-V EX adds dual-zone automatic climate control (new), 8-way power driver's seat (new), auto on/off headlights (new), centre console (new), USB device connector (new), body-coloured mirrors and door handles (new), a one-touch power moonroof with tilt feature, chrome grille and rear license plate trim, security system, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, dual-deck cargo shelf, audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD changer and six speakers, exterior temperature indicator, and a 10-spoke alloy wheel design (new).

The CR-V EX-L adds leather-trimmed seats and armrests, heated front seats, upgraded audio system with 7-speakers including subwoofer, and XM(R) Radio (new). Available on the CR-V EX-L is the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Bi-lingual Voice Recognition and rearview camera, which also adds Bluetooth(R) Handsfreelink(R) (new) and a 6-disc CD changer in the center console (replaces in-dash changer).

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price for 2010 Honda CR-V trims are:
$27,790 - CR-V LX (2WD)
$29,790 - CR-V LX
$30,990 - CR-V EX (2WD)
$32,990 - CR-V EX
$34,990 - CR-V EX-L
$37,090 - CR-V EX-L Navi

Honda Canada, now in its 40th year of operation in Canada, manufactures the Honda Civic sedan and coupe, and the Acura CSX, ZDX and MDX at its two plants in Alliston, Ontario, and produces fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engines at its engine plant adjacent to the Honda manufacturing facilities.
