As 2010 bows out, it's time to look back on the most popular vehicles across Canada. So, without further ado, here are the best-selling models of the year in each of the main segments.

The Dodge Grand Caravan once again crushed every other minivan on the market. In fact, according to DesRosiers Automotive, it's the only minivan to place among the 10 highest sellers, all vehicle types considered. Score one for Chrysler, which is expected to regain some competitiveness in other market segments throughout 2011. Rounding out the top 3 are the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey.

Canadians still love compact cars, and barring a major turnaround, the Honda Civic will once again finish the year as the best-selling compact in the country. The Mazda3 proved to be a feisty rival and became a close runner-up. The Toyota Corolla comes in third.

Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-150 annihilated the full-size pickup truck field by nearly outselling the Ram 1500 (2nd place) and GMC Sierra (3rd place) combined. Chrysler and GM have their work cut out for them if they plan on overthrowing the Blue Oval in 2011!

With regard to sub-compact or B-segment cars, Hyundai dominates the competition with the Accent, which won over a number of Canadian drivers thanks to highly-attractive pricing and value. The little Korean is followed by the Nissan Versa and Toyota Yaris, respectively.

The ongoing war in the midsize sedan category has really overshadowed the supremacy of the Ford Fusion, by far the most popular model in Canada. The Hyundai Sonata and Chevrolet Malibu make up the other spots in the top 3.

Likewise, the Ford Escape is 2010's best-selling utility vehicle, but the Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Dodge Journey are virtually neck and neck in the fight for the remaining top spots. One thing's for sure: the competition is extremely fierce among SUVs and crossovers.
