Following several months of negotiations, the board and advisory council of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V. on the one hand and the management board of Goodyear Dunlop Tires Germany GmbH on the other jointly announced today that the sponsoring deal expiring on 31st December, 2010, won’t be extended.

At the end of 11 years of an always cooperative series partnership, this decision means that Dunlop will also stop supplying the premium-car manufacturers Audi and Mercedes-Benz with Dunlop control tires to be used in DTM.

“Losing Dunlop, one of the long-term partners of the DTM fraternity, represents a true loss” said Thomas Betzler, vice-chairman of the ITR e.V. board.

“But the fact that we part on good terms speaks for the partnership we had.”

The negotiations regarding the new tire supplier and series partner from 2011 are still running and the new deal will be announced right after the signing.

Both Audi and Mercedes tested Hankook tires a few weeks ago.
