Last Friday marked the official start of Subaru of Indiana Automotive's (SIA) production of the Toyota Camry along side their Subaru Legacy, Outback and Tribeca.

Back in October of 2005, Toyota and Fuji Heavy Industries (FJH) signed a memorandum of understanding: basically a business agreement where they would study each others management, research and development and to supplement each others technological development. By March of the following year, it had been agreed that SIA would build Camrys.

SIA's Camry production capacity is of 100,000 units per year, total output is 240,000. The total investment in the SIA plant if of 230 million dollars. Once full production begins, 1,000 new jobs will have been created.
