Sources indicate that the GMC Acadia will be axed at the end of its life cycle around 2015.

The Lambda-based CUV currently has two twins – the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Such product overlap is part of the reason why GM suffered major setbacks in recent years.

Right now, the Enclave proves more popular among buyers than the Acadia, although the latter still enjoys relative success. The automaker decided not to redesign one of the three products, in this case the Acadia.

At $40,135, the GMC offering is priced in the middle of the pack. The Traverse is the cheapest ($37,890) and the Enclave, the most expensive ($45,730). Going ahead with just two models would make it easier to differentiate the GM products.
