Ricky Taylor’s hope of equalizing Jon Fogarty’s consecutive pole record of seven was shortened by no other than Fogarty himself on Friday as he kept the pole for himself in Montreal.

Fogarty's lap of 1:32.999 was the only one under the 1:33.000 bar in the Daytona Prototype series in qualifying. Taylor, who shares his No. 10 Chevrolet Dallara with Max Angelelli, was second with a lap of 1:33.681.

David Donohue, third in the standing behind Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas in the BMW Riley, who will start from seventh tomorrow, and Angelelli/Taylor, will start in third position in the two-hour race tomorrow on board of their No. 5 Porsche Riley.

In GT, Boris Said, who had an eventful end of race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series at the Glen last week, had the best of the rest with a pole position in the Corvette car he shares with Owen Kelly, who will qualify the Nationwide car of Marcos Ambrose later today.

Andrew Davis, currently second in the GT standing behind Bill Lester and Jordan Taylor (Camaro GT.R) in the Porsche GT3 Cup he shares with teammate Leh Keen, qualified the car in second place.

Ronnie Bremer (Robin Liddell) completed the GT qualifying podium in another Camaro GT.R. Quebecker Sylvain Tremblay qualified his Mazda RX-8 in sixth place. He is currently in third place in the standing with teammate Jonathan Bomarito.

Jon Fogarty is the defending champion of Montreal's Grand-AM race. The two-hour event is expected to be green flagged at 11:15 am on Saturday.
