Michelin Defender 2
It's hard to ignore the Defender 2 from French manufacturer Michelin. This high-quality touring tire has long since proved its worth. It excels on all levels, including wet pavement and, above all, wear. Alternatively, at a more affordable price, there's the XTour A/S 2 from the same manufacturer.
Goodyear Assurance
If you're looking for a tire brand that's widely recognized in the industry, you'll want to check out Goodyear and its relatively extensive Assurance line, which includes several versions. In the last two years, Goodyear has also become the owner of the Cooper brand, whose latest models have been revised under Goodyear's influence.
Bridgestone Turanza
Over the years, Japanese manufacturer Bridgestone has built up a strong reputation for its Turanza touring tire. Its characteristics make it a sought-after product for long distances and wet pavement. It's also very quiet. But if you drive a very economical car to save fuel, take a look at the Ecopia range from the same manufacturer.
Nokian One
When it comes to summer tires, the Finnish brand Nokian isn't often mentioned, yet over the past few years it has built up a loyal customer base. That’s right, Nokian doesn't just make winter tires!
In fact, the manufacturer has a large plant in Tennessee where it produces summer tires. Its Nokian One is specifically designed for the North American market and is well worth considering.
Tested for over three summers on a 2017 Ford Escape, this tire has performed admirably with very moderate even wear. It's hard to beat in its segment.
Continental Touring Contact / TrueContact
This German manufacturer needs no introduction either. We see it very often as original equipment on many German manufacturers' cars. Its Touring Contact product should be its top-of-the-range model, but the True Contact is more appreciated for its budget approach.
