According to reports, Takuma Sato is set to join the newly-reinvigorated Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan Racing for the upcoming 2012 IndyCar season, still maintaining his ties with Honda.
Although only a few weeks ago, the former F1 driver was about to stay-on with KV Racing Technology and switch to the Chevrolet brand, now it appears that Sato will continue to be associated with his long-time backer Honda in a different team.
Of the teams known to be using Honda’s 2.2-liter single-turbo V6 engine, most have filled their respective seats for next season, narrowing Sato’s options.
But on Monday, the two-car RLL team confirmed that amongst other drivers, Sato was one of its most recent visitors.
With one or two interesting candidates honing in on the second RLL seat, Sato could have the team and teammate to help deliver the results he’s looking for.
