Team-mates Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti gave Team Ganassi its first 1-2 finish in more than a year after both drivers dominated the IndyCar race presented in Richmond.

It was Dixon's third victory of the 2009 season and both him and Franchitti moved to first and second position in the standings following Penske's Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves crashes.

It also allowed Dixon to equal Sam Hornish Jr's record of 19 wins in Indy Racing League sanctioned races.

Graham Rahal took his best ever oval finish in third for Newman/Haas/Lanigan, while Andretti Green's Hideki Mutoh and Danica Patrick finished fourth and fifth.

In the first moments of the race, Ryan Briscoe was able to stay close to Franchitti and Dixon but the Australian lasted just 27 laps before spinning into the Turn 2 wall. Castroneves  made contact with the wall later in the race and was forced to retire.

AGR's Hideki Mutoh, Danica Patrick and Tony Kanaan had a pretty good run all night but they were still no match for the Ganassi duo.

Next race is schedule for July 5th at the famous Watkins Glen circuit.
