Kia today unveiled the first two official images of the sporty and versatile Niro, a hybrid compact SUV that will debut in concept form at the Chicago Auto Show next month.
According to Kia, the Niro “will demonstrate the considerable steps the brand has made in delivering comfortable, fun-to-drive vehicles that lead the way in low-emission motoring.” It is expected to enter production by the end of 2016.
Based on the preliminary specs released by the company, the Niro uses a 104-horsepower 1.6L engine and a 32kW electric motor fed by a 1.56kWh lithium-polymer battery. A 6-speed automatic transmission completes the powertrain.
