The Mopar brand is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a limited-edition Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger. Currently on display at the Chicago Auto Show, the car will begin arriving in select dealerships in early spring.

Canadian availability has yet to be specified.

“Since its birth in 1937, Mopar has evolved from the name of an antifreeze product to a global customer-care brand,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA – Global. “The Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger, our latest limited-edition vehicle, is a testament to this philosophy, showcasing how Mopar assists owners in personalizing all FCA US vehicles.”

The Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger offers a pair of hand-painted, custom show car trim options. Only 80 models will be available in Pitch Black/Contusion Blue, with another 80 in Pitch Black/Billet Silver, in a nod to 80 years of the Mopar brand.

The 20” aluminum wheels are embellished with semi-gloss accents, the centre caps feature the Dodge logo, and the standard chrome exhaust tips are replaced with Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat black exhaust tips.

As for power, the Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger uses a 6-speed manual transmission and 6.4L 392 HEMI V8 engine rated at 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Shaker Hood package and cold air intake by Mopar provide performance gains with a hint of vintage styling. An air catcher duct system, inspired by the Hellcat, feeds additional cold air into the vehicle via the headlamps.

Other limited-edition, Mopar-modified vehicles delivered straight from the factory over the years include a Mopar 2010 Challenger, Mopar 2011 Charger, Mopar 2012 300, Mopar 2013 Dart, Mopar 2014 Challenger, Mopar 2015 Dodge Charger R/T, and Mopar 2016 Ram Rebel.
