Ontario’s Mosport Speedway half-mile paved oval has announced it will implement changes to its racing procedures starting in 2011.

The Speedway’s new approach includes start times at 6pm rather than 6:30pm. There will also be more travelling specials and new rules to increase competition.

“The new race times will allow families to get home earlier and they can expect a quicker pace, less down time between races and more competition across the board,” explained new Speedway Manager, Glenn Butt.

In addition to this, the Speedway will introduce a new logo as part of its increased promotions and activities standards.

The 16-week program begins on the first long weekend of the summer (May 21) and will feature three home divisions, the entry level Pure Stock (formerly 6 or Less), Sportsman and Late Models.

Canada’s national stock car championship, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will begin their 2011 campaign at Mosport Speedway, a first for the half-mile oval. The Dickies 200 will take place on May 28.

The Old Dutch Crunch ‘King of the Hill’ spectator races return to give fans the opportunity to go head-to-head, two at a time, on the half-mile oval in their own cars. In this format, racers will take to the track for one lap, with the winner moving on until the ‘King of the Hill’ is crowned.
