It's one of the most award-winning cars in the world, and a family favorite across the globe. It's the Ford Focus, and it goes on sale in Europe in 2008- further improving on the success factors that have made it a hit since being launched some ten years ago.
From the end of this year, new European models will begin rolling off the assembly line before going on sale in February. In the UK, three-door, four-door and wagon body styles go on sale first, with a coupe-cabriolet model and flagship ST version hitting showrooms later in the spring.
The newest Focus will carry Ford's kinetic design language- which was introduced in concept cars and now sets several of the automakers new and upcoming models apart. Kinetic design is intended to capture and convey a sense of motion and energy in the lines and shapes of the vehicle.
Also new for 2008 are a fuel-saving and performance enhancing double-clutch transmission which enables quick gear changes, and a new DuraTorq diesel engine. Helping to further differentiate the Focus from its competition are Easy Fuel capless refueling, tire pressure monitoring, a 230 volt outlet and rear LED based taillamps.
Pricing and model details will be announced closer to the on sale date.
