The new Targa will also include some of the changes that Porsche is making to the rest of the 911 lineup for 2002, namely a more powerful engine (a 3.6-litre, 320-horsepower affair) and exterior and interior styling updates.
Carlson says the Targa model weighs about 68 kg more than the Coupe and will accelerate from zero-to-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, compared to 5.0 seconds for the Coupe.
Prices for the 911 Carrera Targa will be announced at the same time that availability dates are announced, Carlson says.
