The rapidly aging Suzuki XL-7 should normally be replaced in the following year, and Suzuki has announced an upcoming model in 2006 based on this Concept X. It is powered by a 3.6-litre DOHC V6, most likely sourced from GM's extensive parts bin matched to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Among its features should be a DVD navigation system, a sophisticated communication system, power retractable running boards and a lane departure warning system. Those concerned with safety need not worry. The X has 6 air bags including side curtain air bags and active cruise control.

The 2006 Concept X is larger in size than the XL-7 and should be built on the Pontiac Torrent and Chevrolet Equinox platform. Its exterior features resemble many popular SUVs from Jeep, Nissan and Infiniti.

The Concept X is targeted at people with an energetic and active lifestyle, according to a representative for Suzuki. The car and truck maker has the intention to triple its sales by 2007. The introduction of their first mid-size SUV should help them attain their goal.
