The diminutive RWD coupe ready to take our roads by storm
After the grand unveiling of the Toyota GT 86 destined exclusively for Europe at the Tokyo Motor Show, the North American version, known as the Scion FR-S (Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport), is slated to hit dealerships in the spring of 2012
The brand’s fifth model will sport a 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder punching out 200 metric hp and 151 lb-ft of torque as well as a 6-speed manual transmission that dispatches power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential.
Handling is taken care of by a near-perfect front-to-rear weight distribution of 53:47, MacPherson struts in front, a double wishbone configuration in back and 17” wheels wrapped in 215/45 rubber. Style-wise, the 2013 Scion FR-S is nothing other than a carbon copy of the Toyota GT 86. Now that we know what it’ll look like and when it’ll get here, the only thing that’s still a mystery is the price. Will we be able to get our hands on it for less than $30,000? We’ll find out soon enough!
