After the grand unveiling of the Toyota GT 86 destined exclusively for Europe at the Tokyo Motor Show, the North American version, known as the Scion FR-S (Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport), is slated to hit dealerships in the spring of 2012
The brand’s fifth model will sport a 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder punching out 200 metric hp and 151 lb-ft of torque as well as a 6-speed manual transmission that dispatches power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential.
Handling is taken care of by a near-perfect front-to-rear weight distribution of 53:47, MacPherson struts in front, a double wishbone configuration in back and 17” wheels wrapped in 215/45 rubber.
Style-wise, the 2013 Scion FR-S is nothing other than a carbon copy of the Toyota GT 86.
Now that we know what it’ll look like and when it’ll get here, the only thing that’s still a mystery is the price. Will we be able to get our hands on it for less than $30,000? We’ll find out soon enough!
