Got an old decrepit building standing in the way of your view of the new strip mall? Does that old factory, on the other side of the highway, cast a shadow on the brand new neon signs? Don't call the City, a contractor or the Incredible Hulk, simply ring Volkswagen.
Well, it'll have to be a building or factory somewhere in Europe. In a stunt reminiscent of the Touareg TDI pulling a Boeing 747, Volkswagen and four of its Amarok pickups took down a 140-tonne 67 metre (220 ft) tower in Reading, Berkshire.
The “To do” was meant to demonstrate the power and capability of VW's 2.0L 4-cylinder TDI engine when under bonnet of the pickup. And it did. The structure was weakened somewhat but the fact remains that the tower came crashing down.
Although there is no official word that the Amarok will come our way though. Given that utility is still high on North Americans wish list and that VW still intends on being #1 in the World, it could happen.
