Over 40 of Volkswagen AG’s models will disappear in the next few years as part of the German automaker’s revised strategy, according to Reuters. That’s 11% of the current portfolio, which includes more than 340 models from a dozen brands such as Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
Given the recent emissions scandal, it’s likely that a number of diesel-powered models will get axed. Low-volume products will also be eliminated.
Last week, Volkswagen AG announced a plan to launch at least 30 new battery electric vehicles by 2025. It will invest more than 10 billion euros to do so while developing car-sharing services.
