Jean-Philippe Dayraut (BMW Series 1) clinched his third Andros Trophy ice racing series' title in-a-row, while Adrien Tambay (BMW Series 1) won the first round of two this weekend, in Lans-en-Vercors.
With a second place overall in this race, Dayraut can no longer be beaten in the standings and therefore clinched a third consecutive title. His championship rivals Alain Prost (Dacia Duster) and Franck Lagorce (Skoda Fabia) took only 5th and 8th on Friday. The biggest surprise of the day was the performance of Adrien Tambay on his BMW Series 1. The son of former F1 driver Patrick Tambay was quickest in qualifying heats, before he won his final heat, and took first position overall of the day. Canadian Jaques Villeneuve (Skoda Fabia) experienced a quite disappointing day, as the he finished 13th overall, after he qualyfied 11th. The second race of the weekend will be held on Saturday.
