The 100 percent Quebec originate duo of Antoine l’Estage and Nathalie Richard cumulated record after record this week-end in Ste-Agathe, Quebec, by winning the fourth of six Canadian Rally Championship events this year.
This was the duo’s fifth victory at Rally Défi, one more victory than John Buffum – who ironically prepared the car this week-nd! – and co-driver Tom Grimshaw, back in the 1980s. L’Estage and Richard won 14 out of 19 specials this week-end on board of their Mitsubishi Evo X. This other victory puts them three points short of the Canadian Rally Championship’s lead with two events to go in 2010. It also ensures them the North American Rally Championship title as no one is any longer in position to reach them on top of the standing. The couple had won the American Rally Championship title earlier this summer, making them the first Quebec originate duo to ever win both American and North-American titles in one same year. The second-to-last event of the season, the Pacific Forest Rally, will take place on October 1st and 2nd, in Merritt, British-Colombia.
