2004 Mitsubishi Galant - A Worthy Fashion Statement

The current generation Galant, while new to Canadians, is in its last year of production. Other than a slightly outdated interior there's nothing particularly wrong with the car, but just like the latest fashion trends the old must make way for the new.

Yet unlike the width of suit lapels, length of skirts, taper of trousers and height of heels, the usual fare on parade atop the runways of New York, the new Galant that was unveiled in the same city is something worthy of getting excited about. Every aspect of the car is improved, starting with its styling. The 2004 model pulls design cues from a host of new Mitsubishis, including the most recent Outlander and Endeavor SUVs. The now familiar bisecting grille pillar design is especially well executed on the new car, while the headlamp clusters that surround it add to what is an aggressive, yet elegant appearance.

A similarly styled tail light treatment integrates a subtle lip spoiler that spans the rear decklid on GTS models, DE, ES and LS models do without the racy feature. Other design details include a particularly attractive arcing roofline, flying buttress-like C-pillars and a camphored rear bumper. From all angles the new car looks stunning, sporting a distinctive style that sets it apart from others in the midsize sedan category.
