2004 Pontiac Grand Prix - Nice Styling, But Will it Shake Up the Imports?
The current Grand Prix is one of GM's best looking cars. But that said the next generation 2004 will remove all the remaining go-fast body cladding allowing the clean, unadulterated design to stand out on its own. This should go far in luring in import buyers, shouldn't it?
First of all it looks good. As most of us hoped Pontiac has pulled in many design cues from last year's G-Force concept car that was such a hit with the crowds. While BMW fans might take offense to the Grand Prix's no apologies double kidney grille, GP fans will remind them that Pontiac has been styling their cars more or less this way since the 70s.
The new model improves on the 1997 to 2003 Grand Prix in more ways than just looks. From a pragmatic perspective its larger trunk also incorporates a 254 mm (10 in) wider opening that offers a 152 mm (6 in) lower lift-in height. Along this theme rear passengers will enjoy new doors that open 15 degrees wider than the previous model allowing improved access to newly designed 60/40 split fold down rear seats.
