Ralliart is to Mitsubishi what SRT is to the Chrysler Group. The only difference is that the latter is truly sporty while the former isn't.

The price of the 2009 Ralliart has been drop of $ 2,000.

While the 2009 Galant Ralliart is more eye-catching than lesser models (ES and GT), the overall design is still fairly conservative. The thing is, almost all the ingredients are there to create an attractive visual package, but the lack of aggressiveness is kind of disappointing when you consider what the Japanese automaker is capable of in terms of styling (Eclipse and Lancer Evolution).

The Ralliart version gets a body kit, 18-inch wheels (borrowed from the 2009 Eclipse) and a trunk-integrated rear spoiler. Obviously, the Ralliart also receives the subtle upgrades of the new 2009 model, including revised bumpers and taillights. Also, the company decided to do away with the split front grille. In the end, the regular Galant displays a restrained look, so the Ralliart treatment is good news for potential buyers.

Inside, the environment is interesting, although you get the impression that some elements have gone missing during the development process. The center display seems to come out of nowhere and its execution is questionable. Likewise, the multiple materials overload the layout. Personally, I would get rid of the chrome plate at the base of the console as it proves hard on the eyes when exposed to direct sunlight.

The configuration of the control panel is inadequate and the navigation system is not particularly user-friendly. The air ducts are another irritant; they don't shut completely, which means front occupants always feel a slight draft. On the other hand, the instrument cluster is nicely designed and easy to read.

One thing you can always expect to find in a Mitsubishi car is a killer audio unit. With the 2009 Galant Ralliart, the eight speakers of the 360-watt premium stereo do a good job of distributing sound from six strategic locations.

There's a decent amount of room for passengers, both up front and in the back. Plus, access to the seats is easy.
