It's mostly about style
When I look at the prices of some cars, I always try to figure out if they’re worth it. After all, an object is only too expensive for two reasons: 1) you don’t have the means to buy it and 2), and this is the most cited reason, because the price is too high for what the object actually brings you. So you can imagine that with a sales price over $68,000, I studied the Audi S4 in extreme detail to establish its overall value.

First, I have to admit that it’s definitely too expensive – at least according to my own definition, i.e., it’s not the meagre salary of a poor automotive journalist that will enable me to buy one this year. But if I had the means, it would definitely be at top of my list. In fact, I’d even be willing to sacrifice a few extra bucks and some other objects to drive an Audi S4. It’s definitely worth every penny, even if it’s not without its flaws and even though it may not be the king of its class.

What a looker!
Like every car, at first sight you concentrate on looks first. Its sporty mien leaves no room for interpretation, and there’s no way you can mistake it for its less potent sibling, the A4. The S4 is streamlined, boasts a more belligerent grille and seems lower slung, which improves its overall balance.

Though you may have your doubts, as the elongated front end supports the overhanging engine, but the package is so well balanced that you only notice it on careful inspection.

Same story inside. True, I already have a soft sport for Audi cabins, and the S4 is certainly no exception to the rule. It’s like sitting in a posh living room adorned with classic, tasteful materials.

And the abundant and easy-to-use equipment is just as classic and tasteful. Though the multimedia system is a tad complex, the voice recognition feature, bilingual AND comprehensible, makes up for it.
