"At Chrysler, we value our company's tradition of producing great American automobile designs," said Creed.

Striking as it may have looked being lowered into its temporary tomb, the '57 Plymouth sure didn't look like it had a 50-year beauty sleep coming back out. The hole dug for its protective casket leaked over the years, allowing water to come in direct contact with the car.

What was buried a shiny, new and striking machine packed with post cards, letters, food, and books from its day re-emerged a corroded, sopping wet mess which disappointed many people.

It's rumored that restoration guru and hot-rod builder Boyd Coddington is planning to restore the car back to original condition. The car will then belong to whoever originally cast the closest guess as to the population of Tulsa in 2007 (or their heir).

In 2037, the town will unveil a 1997 Plymouth Prowler which will have been buried in Centennial Park as part of the city's founding ceremonies.
