Similar to other BMWs, says Nickel, X5 options will include in-dash CD player, a heated steering wheel, self-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, an advanced on-board computer, a premium audio system with Digital Sound Processing, a moonroof, and lumbar support.
To tease the real potential buyers as well as people who are just curious, BMW will soon make virtual production of the X5 available on desktop computers. With the help of advanced interactive technology, customers can click into BMW's "Virtual Center" at http://www.bmwusa.com, select the X5, and "build" their own vehicle.
Bearing in mind that the prices will be in U.S. dollars and the ordering opportunity restricted to Americans, Nickel points out, visitors to the Virtual Center may choose interior and exterior colors, select individually-priced options and choose vehicle upgrades.
As options and packages are added, the program updates the vehicle's retail price in the U.S. and even allows the user to view enlarged images of their personalized vehicle from the front, side and rear. Finally, the enthusiast can save the X5 of his or her dreams in a computer file if not the driveway.
