As for Hummers future, having General Motors in the driver's seat should be a great advantage. After all, Hummer is one of the world's most identifiable brands, so hopefully General Motors can strengthen the image by strengthening the product range. A smaller, less expensive model such as the H2 should enhance the brand as a whole, as long as its off-road capability isn't compromised.
That said there is nothing currently on the planet that can match the original Hummer for on-road civility and off-road mastery. Sure it is big - it's bloody massive! Parallel parking works best if you drive over rather than fit in between other cars. Its exterior size to interior storage ratio is ridiculous when compared to a modern four-door pick up truck. Yet, if you want or have to get to the most remote address in the deepest wilderness, there aren't many choices. The Hummer is probably your best.
