As it turned out, I arrived to pick up the Prowler in a torrential downpour that had come on without warning within a few hours of optimistic looking blue patches of sky. I crept out of the underground parkade onto the streets with extreme caution. I wasn't only concerned with its tremendous power, ultra-light construction and massive rear tires, but I was most wary of local drivers who seem to lose all sanity along with their depth perception at approximately 5pm daily.

To my surprise the Prowler is an excellent wet weather performer. Fortunately I still have a few active brain cells working, and therefore didn't find it necessary to test its maximum grip, but was impressed nonetheless with its tenacity for holding the road. From standstill to "eat-my-rooster-tail" the Prowler was exceptional, with barely a slide from the rear thanks to its excellent traction control.

Inside space is at a minimum, especially while the top is in place. People over 6 feet in height will find their heads rubbing on the cloth roof while those with a formidable mid-rift may find its narrow width claustrophobic. I, being small in stature, found it just right, whether driving through the rain with the top up or basking in the rays when the sun happened to honor me with its presence.

The dash is wonderfully detailed, with exterior color keyed metal-look plastic panels harking back to yesteryear. When lit up at night, the effective gauges are a captivating iridescent light show. The Prowler becomes a literal nightclub on wheels with its competent Infinity sound system blaring out the quintessential ZZ-Top. Although a little tough to get at, the 6-disc CD stacker that sits behind the passenger seat is more convenient than those found in the trunk.
