Equally soul stirring is the CL's precise handling. Independent double-wishbones with coil springs and stabilizer bars make up the front suspension and a similar independent multi-link, double wishbone system can be found in the rear. Acura's variable-assist power rack-and-pinion steering makes tight 'S' turns as easy as high-speed sweepers. Rounding out the Type S performance upgrade are 17" x 7" cast alloy wheels shod with P215/50R17 93V Michelin MXM4 rubber. Its 300 mm (11.8 inch) ventilated discs up front and 282 mm (11.1 inch) solid discs in the rear (and a 3-channel anti-lock braking system) allow for an excellent 124 foot stopping distance from 100 km/h - considering its 1592 kg (3509 lb) curb weight.

The above average braking system is only one of the coupe's safety features. Front and side air bags protect in case of a collision while the standard vehicle stability assist feature should aid in avoiding an accident in the first place, by preventing skids and fishtailing on slippery pavement.

The interior might seem austere to some, but those who appreciate simple, clean design will feel right at home. The perforated leather clad seats are among the most comfortable I have ever experienced, with adequate side bolstering even during aggressive cornering. The drivers seat incorporates 8-way power adjustment and a heated bottom cushion and backrest to soothe an aching back. That said the passenger must make do with a 4-way system heating only the bottom cushion, so as not to interfere with the passenger side air bag sensors. My only complaint is Acuras choice of gray plastic marble, as used in the door inserts and console. The effect is similar to a designer kitchen with countertops finished in cheesy arborite - it cheapens an otherwise attractive overall design.
