I'm always impressed with the quality of materials, high level of fit and finish and full array of features available in Volkswagen products. Like all Jettas, the Wolfsburg Edition is well equipped including a premium eight-speaker cassette stereo (with the option of a dealer-installed, in-dash CD player), height and telescoping steering wheel, heated remote power mirrors, power windows, central remote locking, cruise control, a center armrest and the coolest folding key in the business. Since we're talking about the Jetta's cool factor, at night a soft red glow of ethereal backlit switches adds warmth and functionality to the cabin. The gauges contrast in a stunning electric blue.

There is plenty of room inside despite its small outward appearance. Rear 60/40 folding seats make stowing skis a snap, while the deep and tall trunk is easy to access due to a low lift over height.

Safety features include dual front air bags plus a side-impact safety system called Side Curtain Protection, 4-disc ABS brakes and a brake wear indicator on the dash.

The option list adds a power sunroof, the sensational Monsoon audio system, plus a cold weather package with heated windshield washer nozzles and 5-way heated front seats. The 5-way heated seats allow you to set the perfect temperature for whatever inclement weather conditions you face, with position 5 warm enough to remedy lower back pain.

What don't I like? Not much. While the remote comes with a trunk release button, it would be handy if it would unlock when all four doors were also unlocked. Also, a CD player should come standard.
