Just like the all-new Honda Accord V6, drive-by-wire systems control throttle and steering mechanisms - the DN-X adds drive-by-wire brakes as well. Steer-by-wire incorporates twin actuators at the car's front corners that each receive input from the control module and in turn direct the front wheels accordingly. Similarly, the electro-mechanical (EMB) brake-by-wire system replaces a traditionally hydraulic system with electronic controls and actuators.

To improve safety and handling dynamics the DN-X has a Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system similar in operation to existing Acura models, as well as Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS). The symbiotic relationship of these two technologies helps to reduce wheel slip while providing smoother more stable cornering.

All this high-tech wizardry can cause weight gain, the adversary of sporting performance. To counter this Acura developed a rigid, lightweight chassis topped with a wind-cheating monocoque body incorporating an integrated front spoiler that reduces its coefficient of drag to only 0.23, nearly 25% less than the NSX and 0.02 Cd lower than the already slippery Honda Insight.

Of course the suspension system is fully independent incorporating double wishbones front and rear. Suitably large diameter 18-inch alloy wheels up front and 19-inch in out back are wrapped in sticky low-profile rubber. Substantial ventilated disc brakes with ABS and EBD round out the performance package.

Other safety innovations include an Intelligent Driver Support system (IDS) which is made up of two components, Lane Keeping Assistance and Adaptive Cruise Control. Lane Keeping Assistance incorporates CCD cameras to locate lane markings and then alert the driver visually and audibly if and when the car veers off course. If the driver doesn't respond the steering system takes over, automatically re-centering the car in its lane. The Adaptive Cruise Control system uses laser radar and monitoring sensors to maintain a safe distance from the car in front by controlling the accelerator and brake as needed.
