The DN-X also incorporates Night Vision, a heat-sensing infrared system designed to enhance visibility at night. Again audible and visual warnings are used, the latter being an infrared image on the center display or on a head-up display system projected onto the windshield. I've experienced Cadillac's version of this technology first hand and was impressed.

Similar to the Tucker and then later Citroen, the DN-X uses active headlights that adjust in the direction of a turn. Acura has taken this technology a step further by using both the steering direction as well as GPS navigation system information to anticipate oncoming corners as well as allowing various levels of low and high beam adjustment dependant on the rate of speed.

The navigation system itself is activated via an interactive voice-recognition equipped pop-up display in the center console. Access to e-mail, Internet and cellular telephone service is also available. The head-up display system can be used for navigation directions as well.

Additionally a 3-dimensional meter located in the dashboard displays the speedometer, tachometer and odometer. It also shows alerts from the IDS system, notification of incoming phone calls and e-mails and other basic driving status information.

All said, is the DN-X what Acura has in mind for an NSX replacement? OK, let's not start any rumors here. Acura hasn't announced any plans to transform the 2-door NSX into anything that resembles the 4-door DN-X in styling or engineering. That said the old girl needs a more comprehensive update than it received last year and the DN-X does look sensational. Maybe I'm onto something?
