While the XKR might be more correctly classified as a grand touring car, rather than an all out sports car, it does deliver impressive performance when the freeway ends and the winding highway begins. A fully independent suspension system, isolated from road harshness via carrier assemblies that attach to the body through insulating mounts, performs flawlessly while reducing NVH levels. While some body flex and associated shudder can be felt on uneven pavement, the XKR's overall structural rigidity is good, especially considering its long wheelbase.

In reflection, was the agonizing anticipation worth it? Oh yes! My week behind the wheel of the XKR Convertible will long be remembered. Jaguar has created a masterpiece of design and modern engineering. Considering the rising price of fine art, it seems like a relative bargain.
