This redesigned cabin is also quieter than the previous ES 300, thanks to new technology that absorbs noise rather than blocking it. As in the previous model, an active engine mount helps cancel out idle vibration with every power stroke. New engine mounts further reduce vibration, and a two-stage muffler reduces exhaust "booming" at low speeds.
FLAGSHIP-STYLE LUXURY
Lexus has fitted the ES 300 with many luxury features found on the larger LS 430 sedan, such as the new dual-zone automatic climate control with an air filtration system. The standard premium audio system in both vehicles features a five-channel amplifier and seven speakers. The ES 300 includes both in-dash CD and cassette players. Automatic Sound Level (ASL) adjusts volume up or down in response to ambient noise. In addition, an in-dash 6-CD changer is available with the Premium and Luxury Packages on ES 300 while a premium Mark Levinson audio system, first introduced as an OEM installation on the LS 430, is offered as an option on ES 300.
Additional standard luxury features include a multi-information display with trip computer, Homelink(R) compatible garage door opener, and electrochromic auto-dimming rearview and sideview mirrors. A compass is integrated into the rearview mirror. Power windows on all four doors feature one-touch up/down control with pinch protection. Two more features adopted from the LS 430 include water-repellent front door glass and four-door courtesy lamps that illuminate the ground and doorsill areas.
ES 300's luxury ambience is enhanced by standard footwell lighting, a centre console LED interior light, and sun visor vanity mirror lamps that turn off automatically when the mirror is closed. Genuine walnut trim highlights the dashboard, center console, and doors, which also feature chrome handles. ES 300 seats are dressed in the same leather that's standard on LS 430.
