"This concept vehicle is extremely important for Saturn," Smith added. "We want to infuse Saturn design with even more daring and verve, continuing some of the brand's signature cues."

The fact that the SKY uses a relatively stock Ecotec 2.2-L 4-cylinder engine, other than its low-boost supercharger that results in 40 additional horsepower than stock at 180, shows how serious Saturn is about bringing something close to this concept into reality.

Its steel and aluminum chassis should be lightweight and strong, while the front and rear struts suspension is about as tried and true as anything available. The handsome 18-inch 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels are wrapped in meaty P225/45R18 tires. Their wide contact patch should allow the car to be brought quickly down from speed to standstill via large diameter Wildwood front and rear disc brakes. Straight ahead engineering from mostly stock Saturn components.

The car is also not too hard to comprehend stylistically. While still a concept, with a few experimental features, most show goers shouldn't have to stretch their imaginations twenty years forward to picture it in their garage, important for the SKY to stand an inkling of success if produced.
