"Chrysler 300C signals a dramatic new design direction for Chrysler," added Zetsche. "With its new shape and noble proportions, the Chrysler 300C redefines the classic American automobile, while moving the brand solidly into the premium segment of the market."

The 300C is not a small car, with an estimated 1,808 kg (4,000 lbs) in curb weight, the result of a 4,999 mm (196.8 in) overall length, 1,880 mm (74.0 in) width, and 1,483 mm (58.4 in) height. Its 3,048 mm (120.0 in) wheelbase makes for an accommodating rear seating area, with expansive leg and headroom plus shoulder space ample for three abreast in comfort.

But the concept's almost overwhelming 20-inch 9-spoke chrome alloy wheels fool the eye, causing the large sedan to appear smaller than it really is. They hold in place 245/45R20 front and 275/40R20 rear performance tires, not a particularly subtle hint as to the new Chrysler's performance potential.

Its fully independent suspension incorporates a short and long-arm setup up front and a five-bar multi-link rear configuration, derived from Mercedes-Benz. While the Pacifica uses a completely different chassis its 5-link rear suspension, also pulled from its German sibling, displays a wonderfully composed ride along with extremely agile manners. The 300C's lower center of gravity, beefier wheels and tires and rear wheel drive architecture should produce even more sport-oriented driving dynamics - I can't wait to try it out.
