There's really nothing subtle about its exterior design, and the same has to be said for its cabin. Nothing less than black leather would do, but somehow the 'cornmeal' stitching doesn't fit - sure it looks great but the name has to go. The leather flows across the door panels, accented by brushed billet aluminum trim recessed behind the door handles. The metal motif continues to the seatbacks and bases, and then across the center console that runs the entire length of the interior, adding both a high-tech and retrospective touch to the overall design. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames twin rounded square gauges, the first a speedometer and the second a tachometer, both imitating the look of the vertically shaped headlights and tail lamps.

And now the deciding question, will Ford build it? By the reaction given when it drove onto Ford's arena stage in Detroit's Cobo Hall, it must live. No one will care if it finally gets a V10 or V8, with 590 or 400-hp or if the solid billet aluminum trim gets replaced with plastic. All that matters is that Ford builds a sedan with the 427's character, with the kind of grit that would cause Steve McQueen to drive into a desert sunset, for the sake of driving.
