Rather than the Bentleys and Rollers of the world, Infiniti targets buyers that would otherwise consider a BMW, Lexus or Mercedes-Benz. Each offer very capable flagship models, with only BMW rivaling Infiniti for distinctive styling.

But it's not only different; the Q exhibits a rare mixture of sports sedan agility and sophisticated luxury car elegance. From its bold 4-slat pewter colored grille, to its massive ultra-tech 7-lens High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlamp clusters, incidentally nullifying the need for foglamps, the Q45 portrays a different kind of luxury.

That grille was slightly updated for 2003, along with new headlight surrounds, to tie it in with the new Infiniti family facial features. While they were at it, the stylists massaged the rear decklid trim, giving it a classier appearance. Other than these subtle modifications Infiniti's flagship looks much the same as when it debuted in 2001 as a 2002 model.
Still the Japanese luxury brand has added over a dozen features for 2003 to keep its top model contemporary. A new Sport designation replaces last year's Luxury - more in keeping with Infiniti's go-fast image while upping standard features - and the Premium trim level is enhanced a notch or two in features and refinements.
