Other impressive standard features include an 8-speaker, 300-watt digital Bose audio system with Bose AudioPilot Noise Compensation Circuit Technology; part of an updated center stack that now houses a six-disc CD changer. The system makes use of Visteon's voice recognition system that also works for other electronic features as well, plus an electronic compass in the rearview mirror also comes standard.

New for 2003 Infiniti added puddle lights to the bottom side of the outside mirrors as well as an auto pull-down feature for the trunklid. The Premium model gets new climate controlled front seats with both cooling and heating functionality, a back-up camera, a new lockout switch for rear seat audio and HVAC controls, plus a DVD-based navigation system, all standard. Infiniti's nav is the cream of the crop, offering a landscape view that is more intuitively laid out than the regular aerial view mapping systems. The user-friendly infotainment screen stretches from 147 mm (5.8-in) in base cars to 178 mm (7.0-in) with the optional nav system.

Did you happen to notice the words "back up camera" in the previous paragraph? It's true. Just like the FX45 SUV, Infiniti is offering this premium safety device that could save the life of a small child less scratches and dents in the sedan's beautiful paint finish. The Q's infotainment screen automatically doubles as a monitor when the reverse gear is selected, projecting an image of the rearward view via a tiny camera located near the rear license plate holder.
Not to be outdone by the BMW 7-Series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Premium Q also gets a fully automatic trunk lid that opens and closes. You might think this a frivolous item until your hands are full and a simple click of the remote takes care of personal chauffeur duties.
