The even lighter Chevy Corvette Z06 challenges in performance but hardly comes close to equaling the Maserati's interior quality, overall design or prestige. Come to think of it, none of the competitive marques mentioned can compete directly with the Maserati's superb interior refinement or exotic status.
But when it comes right down to it all this comparison stuff is for naught. Realistically Porsche, Mercedes, Jaguar and even Corvette fans aren't going to leave their true passions for some hot, lusty Italian at the drop of a hat. It will take time for the Maserati marque to become reestablished on North American soil. Even when the brand reaches its ultimate sales peak exclusivity will continue to be a key Maserati selling point, causing those who don't want to appear as merely clique followers to opt for membership in a rarified club of automotive aficionados. Hopefully this new league of Maseratisti will still be willing to let me sidle up beside in my old '67.
