The test car in question was optioned out with the aforementioned Maserati/Mannesmann-Sachs co-developed active Skyhook suspension system that continually adjusts damping automatically. In effect it thinks ahead, controlling the suspension via a series of sensors that monitor the movement of the car's body and wheels, transmit the data, analyze it and tweak the suspension parts accordingly. While it sounds like pretty sophisticated engineering its not a giant leap for the championship-winning Ferrari team, even though active suspensions are no longer F1 mandated gear. The result, aided by gorgeous 15-spoke 18-inch alloy rims wrapped in 235/40Z18 front and 265/35Z18 rear performance tires, is superb handling no matter what it's asked to do, along with a relatively comfortable ride befitting the car's luxurious appointments.

The Brembo braking system is also beyond adequate, thanks to light alloy 4-piston calipers cinching down on large 330 mm (13.0 in) diameter front and 310 mm (12.2 in) rear rotors, assisted by Bosch supplied 4-channel 5.3 ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and MSR (Motor Spin Regulator), a high-tech system that stops the rear wheels from locking up under extreme engine braking. It really works too, keeping the tail end in check when gearing down in preparation for a tight curve.
