A 6-disc CD auto-changer is hidden in the glovebox, connected to a 290-watt AM/FM/cassette Harman Kardon and Alpine audio system featuring Radio Data System (RDS) technology. How does it sound? Twelve speakers, including one at center, four low-range, four mid-range, two tweeters and an active subwoofer in the cargo-area should fill the ears with aural delights. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and speed-sensitive volume control are also part of the package.
Priority stereo adjustments can be made via the Range Rover's thick padded power tilt-and-telescopic, leather-wrapped steering wheel, as can voice activation, cruise control and more. Other features include a 12-way power adjustable driver's seat and 10-way power adjustable front passenger's seat, both with folding armrests. The driver's seat also includes 3-position memory, with simultaneous adjustment to the steering column and exterior mirrors - that are also heated and power folding to decrease overall width in case you find yourself inching along the rocky floor of a particularly narrow canyon or, more likely, trying to squeeze into a tight parking spot.
The split-folding rear seats open up 1,760 L (62.0 cu ft) of cargo space or 990 L (35.0 cu ft) with the seats in the upright position, which is an impressive 113 L (4.0 cu ft) more load space than last year's Range Rover. Front and rear legroom has decreased however, with 988/902 mm (38.9/35.5 in) respectively in the new car compared to 1,082/927 mm (42.6/36.5 in) in the outgoing 2002 model. Headroom grows by 53 mm (2.1 in) up front and 2.5 mm (0.1 in) the rear while shoulder room goes up in the front and down in the back, at 1,559/1,524 mm (61.4/60.0 in) compared to 1,547 mm (60.9 in) for both previously. To most, the changes will be hardly noticeable.
