Although pricing for the Optra has not been released, clearly GM is aiming to undermine the import competition. Today's buyers research their purchases more than ever. Impulse buys based on emotions died with the fins on a '59 Caddy. In addition to value pricing, the Optra must generate review and quality ratings matching those of the competition in order to earn a place at the dinner table.

Expect the unveiling of the 2004 Chevrolet Optra this fall. Until I get a chance to personally test it I remain optimistic that the Optra will meet, and perhaps raise the already stratospheric bar set by others in the highly competitive compact, economy car class.
Watch for the arrival of several other new GMDAT models, including a sport utility vehicle. This is an exciting time in the auto industry, stay close to your screens.
