Speaking of pleasing everyone, will the Pacifica eventually receive a version of the new 345-hp 5.7-L Hemi V8 that is destined for the next generation 300M? While it would be a popular option only rumor is fueling that fire for now. Instead, power will come by Chrysler's proven 3.5-L V6 that motivates the current base 300M. In standard trim, a 4-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick sequential shift mode will transmit a substantial 250 horsepower to the traction control assisted, Michelin 235/65R17 clad front wheels. An optional full-time all-wheel drive system will make driving during Canada's frozen winter months safer and more enjoyable. Incidentally, its 644 km (400 mile) range will limit fuel fillings and therefore the need to weather the bitter elements yet more.

Standard safety features include side-curtain airbags for outside passengers on all three rows, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, tire pressure monitoring, HID headlights, a security alarm and vehicle immobilizer. Chrysler's power adjustable pedals not only improve safety by allowing an optimized seating position, but overall comfort as well. The comprehensive memory system that can be pre-programmed to adjust the power pedals also automatically sets the radio, driver seat and mirrors.

Safety, convenience and even luxury features aside, most potential customers will be drawn to the Pacifica by good looks alone. While its competitors are often rough, tough and sporty in appearance the new Chrysler is decidedly elegant. The trademark winged logo spans the entire width of the deep 4-slat chrome grille. Chrome accents highlight all four corners of the color-keyed bumpers as well as each 6-spoke alloy wheel. From the front quarter angle a graceful body line is immediately apparent, arcing around the front wheel well across the fender and continuing toward the rear of the vehicle, interrupted only twice by each color-keyed door handle. In similar fashion a styling line begins just below the front grille, wrapping around its outer edges and flowing gently rearward, sculpting the hood in the process. The entire form shows a continuity of design unique in its SUV class.
