Concept vehicles such as the Mark LT and Mark X are close to what a production vehicle will probably look like, O'Connor said. Production versions would feature optional wood appointments too, because not everyone wants aluminum, but the chrome effects and grilles are what future Lincolns should be coming out with.

So, should Lincoln build it? A roadster would do a great deal for Lincoln's image, especially now that Cadillac has its XLR. What's more, Ford is already building the Thunderbird therefore producing the Mark X alongside could possibly reduce costs of the T-Bird from an economy of scale perspective; that is if the Lincoln sells well enough.

But Development money for new Lincoln products being scarce, we probably won't see a niche Lincoln coming out at least until after a revamped model lineup guarantees greater profitability.
