Speaking of cold, when faced with temperatures of minus twenty degrees Celsius or less, some of the vehicle's functions didn't function. The Sport GT is equipped with standard

remote keyless entry, so when opening or locking it the headlights and taillights normally flash, plus when clicking the lock button twice the horn usually sounds. I can't explain it but the horn would not sound nor would the lights flash when locking or unlocking the car at this extreme temperature. But don't get me wrong, it was a good thing that the 3 has the remote keyless entry feature, because when I tried to open and close the car manually I was stumped by frozen lock cylinders. In addition the "door ajar" symbol was constantly on, despite all the doors being closed. Talk about frustrating. Perhaps the cold conditions froze the sensors.

Despite my negative experience in the cold, I still couldn't help adoring my Mazda3 Sport GT tester. (Photo: Alexandra Straub, Canadian Auto Press)
Although the interior of the Sport is elegantly finished with its optional leather seating, for me it wasn't practical due to a lack of seat-warmers (and they aren't optional either). Sitting down was brutal at sub-zero temperatures, especially considering I have absolutely no tolerance for the cold in the first place!

Nevertheless, my trip to Whistler only lasted a few days after which I returned to the city where temperatures were moderate, and the cars various electric glitches magically disappeared. Despite my negative experience, I still couldn't help adoring my Mazda3 Sport GT tester. It's loaded with some awesome features.
